Environmental Detectives
Have you ever wondered how bird nests stay together so well, or what a toad looks for in a home, or why, if salt marsh mud smells like rotten eggs, it’s a good thing, or even why some trees grow in certain areas, but not others? We’ll find out answers to these questions along with many others by performing a variety of hands-on experiments in both marine and terrestrial environments that will help us unlock the answers.
Wild and Wacky Inventions
Calling all engineers and inventors. Spend a week in air-conditioned comfort at The Phoenix School combining a variety of engineering matrials from LEGO, PicoCricket, and the Museum of Science with art materials. Then use your imagination to design and build inventions to solve different problems. Maybe you will design a way to move an egg across the floor and up an imaginary mountain. Maybe you will create a cat out of art materials and program it to purr. Whatever the problem, you will have fun while you learn.
